You must also include a United States public domain tag to indicate why this work is in the public domain in the United States. Note that a few countries have copyright terms longer than 70 years: Mexico has 100 years, Jamaica has 95 years, Colombia has 80 years, and Guatemala and Samoa have 75 years. This image may not be in the public domain in these countries, which moreover do not implement the rule of the shorter term. Honduras has a general copyright term of 75 years, but it does implement the rule of the shorter term. Copyright may extend on works created by French who died for France in World War II (more information), Russians who served in the Eastern Front of World War II (known as the Great Patriotic War in Russia) and posthumously rehabilitated victims of Soviet repressions (more information). | |

Thanks for uploading File:Celje center 2006.JPG. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Celje center 2006.JPG]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

"honest use" or "fair use" ...
I took a look at a few of your recent uploads. The street images you took yourself of the clerics are fine. Congratulations!
File:Pogacnik-Joze Jakac.jpg claims "honest use". In English we have a concept "fair use". The commons doesn't ever allow uploading of "fair use" images. The English language wikipedia, and many other language specific wikis have rules that allow for limited use of fair use images.
If your fair use image complies with the rules for honest use on the sl.wikipedia.org, you should upload it there -- and then request its deletion here. Geo Swan (talk) 16:33, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
Same applies to File:Stanko-Cajnkar.jpg
If you have the right permission to use File:Strle-Anton.jpg then you should ask them send it to the OTRS email address above. Alternatively, you could upload the image to sl.wikipedia.org. Geo Swan (talk) 21:32, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- When can we use "honest use" and when as "fair use"? I will to use Strle, Cajnkar, Pogačnik in other Wikipedias too, but only in articles, that speak about them. If I understood, it may be done. Or?
- By files MJB-by-writing.jpg , Strle-Anton.jpg and JP II.jpg, is the thing otherwise: there I received permission for use pictures as in "public domain" from authors.--Stebunik (talk) 21:47, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, the way it works is that http://commons.wikimedia.org (this site), http://en.wikipedia.org and http://sl.wikipedia.org, are all projects of the WMF -- the WikiMedia Foundation.
- It is one of the rules of the http://commons.wikimedia.org (this site) that it will never host fair use images -- under any circumstances.
- Other projects, like http://en.wikipedia.org and http://sl.wikipedia.org can set different rules about fair use. Here are the rules for fair use at the English language wikipedia -- non-free content criteria. There are probably similar rules at http://sl.wikipedia.org.
- Images that are considered "free" -- like the very fine images of those young people you took yourself -- can be uploaded to the commons, and then used on any site. Or they get to remain, for potential use.
- Images that aren't free would have to be individually uploaded to each separate wiki where they are used.
- On the english language wikipedia, fair use images get deleted one week after they are removed from the (last) article where they are used. The uploader has to explain why the image can't be replaced by a free image. And there are some quality control volunteers who are quite aggressive about challenging whether fairuse image meet the non-free content criteria. They will, for instance, even argue that images of prisoners who face life imprisonment were "replaceable" with a free image.
- With regard to File:MJB-by-writing.jpg, File:Strle-Anton.jpg and File:JP II.jpg -- you will find that, eventually, you will have to ask your contacts to confirm the permission to the OTRS email address I offered above.
- Good luck Geo Swan (talk) 01:36, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
