Description |
English: Rimless deep dish, executed in turquoise with two values of blue. It has been pointed out that the dish is an adapatation of a Chinese Ming porcelain design. The artist took his design from a celadon protoype (from : Sheila Canby, Maryam Ekhtiar et al., Masterpieces from the Department of Islamic Art in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2012 (1re éd. 2011), 432 p. (ISBN 978-1-58839-435-4) p.302). It has been also reported that the blue and turquoise scroll on the cavetto echoes the Yuan dynasty celadons and that the central part, instead of being inspired by celadon models, could be based on an islamic brickwork pattern found on seldjuq tombs in western Iran in the 11th century. |
